When I was younger, I really loved reading books. But then, during my high school days I became less interested in reading. Well, I only read academic books. Yeah, the books we used in school. That continued until college. And now, that I have all the free time in the world (until April, I think) I suddenly got interested in reading again. That's why for the past week I already bought four books. And finished two of them. I'm really glad that I got my interest back. I do enjoy reading books 'coz I learn so much from them. Just like in the two books that I recently finished reading. One's a local book then the other's international. I read "The Fault in our Stars" by John Green and "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?" by Ramon Bautista. The two books are really contrasting. The first one was deeper and it really has a story and the other one was more of a funny kind of book but at the same time you learn something from it.
For the first book, "The Fault in our Stars"; I absolutely loved the book. It was well written. I salute Mr. John Green for this novel that he has written. I can't wait to read the other books he has written for the past years. Every single detail in the book was true. It actually made me realize a lot of things, a lot about life and love. I was able to appreciate my life more, that I am actually lucky to have "life". I was also able to know more about love, true love is pure. And, if you love someone you shouldn't hesitate to tell him that just like what Augustus Waters did. That should always be the case. We shouldn't be afraid to tell to that certain person what we feel. One more thing that I loved about the book: the lines. Every single line in the book is trying to say something to us, it's trying to relay a message. And I have my personal favorite lines from the book that I'd like to share.
"In the darkest days, the Lord puts the best people into your life."
"Ignorance is bliss."
"Without pain, we couldn't know joy."
My super favorite line that definitely made me cry at the end of the book:
"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world but you do have some say in who hurts you."
Once you reach the end, you'll know why that line made me cry. There's a line after that that you should find out for yourself. Then I know you'd cry as well.
I'd also like to share this part of the book wherein Augustus told Hazel that he loves her. I got this from Jasmine Curtis' instagram account.
For the other book that I've read, "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?"; it was actually inspired by Ramon Bautista's formspring account. Well, almost the whole book was from his formspring. To better explain this, here's a few pages of the book. I got the pictures from google. Credits to the owner :)
It was a book that's funny yet true. As you can see, it was more of a question & answer type. It's funny because the answers of Ramon was really funny but as I've said it's definitely true. Actually, he was very straightforward which was a good thing about his book. It only tells the truth. So if I were you, you should start reading it. Another great book to read. Plus, there are pictures of Ramon Bautista that are so entertaining. Haha! Yes, I just used the word entertaining.
Just like in the first book, I also have favorite lines from this book:
"The best revenge is to live an awesome life."
"Life is fun if you just take time to find out how."
See, all the lines I placed above are so true. This book definitely tells nothing else but the truth.
So, there. I was just glad to share that I was back to reading books. And I would love to read more. My only problem when reading novels: I become to attached that it's so hard to get over a certain story. If I got hooked with a certain book, I'll get hooked for the rest of my life. Okay, that's OA. I'll get hooked for a long period of time. That's true. :)
Next books to read: The Time Keeper and For One More Day, both written by Mitch Albom (he's my favorite writer & I love his other novel:Tuesdays With Morrie).
The end.
